Bull shark found at Old Cafeteria beach

A report in the Ming Pao Newspaper today reports on the finding of a dead one metre shark at Old Cafateria beach Tuen Mun. The dead shark was a suspected bull shark and this is the first reported case of this shark in Hong Kong waters.

LCSD staff have requested that the shark net contractors urgently check sharks nets in the area to make sure that beaches are safe.  Small sharks are sometimes seen in Hong Kong during summer months, however they are not a threat, given their small size and that all gazetted beaches have shark nets.
