Fantastic news announced in Hong Kong this week.
The Hong Kong government has signed a deal with the “National development and Reform Commission” so that the mainland will continue to supply Hong Kong with natural gas for a further 20 years. This means there is POTENTIALLY no need for CLP (China Light and Power) to development the controversial LNG terminal in the sensitive Soko Islands.
GREAT NEWS…..
However we would err on the caution and state that this is not yet 100% clear. CLP have stated that with this news they will study options for their plans which are at an advanced stage.
We would suggest writing to Edward Yau (Secretary for the Environment) to voice your support for this development and to ensure that the final nail is driven into the coffin on the Soko Island LNG terminal plans.
