Living Seas Hong Kong’s mission has always been to “preserve Hong Kong’s seas for future generations”. But what do we actually advocate for? This article discusses the six measures that we recommend:
- Enhance local biodiversity
- Establish comprehensive fisheries management system
- Expand and deepen Marine Protection Areas
- Institute species protection laws
- Establish robust measures to address Marine Pollution, including both debris and other waste (eg, chemical, agricultural runoff)
- Require thorough, open and independent Marine Impact Analysis for every major infrastructure project
