Marine conservation in Hong Kong

Sinking of a Jumbo in Hong Kong waters

Living Seas Hong Kong has learnt about the plans of a Hong Kong based scuba diving group Sandy Bottom Divers to sink an abandoned Jumbo in Hong Kong’s waters.

Sinking a large object like this will be attractive to marine life and over time can become a vibrant “artificial reef”.  To achieve this proper management of the underwater ‘wreck’ need to be put into place.  Primarily this would be a ban on fishing and on the removal of anything from the site.

We fully support this initiative and would love to see this unique tourism attraction come to reality.
