Review of Dec 16th underwater clean-up

 

2012年12月16日，「勃勃海洋」在西貢進行了一次海底清潔活動。我們探訪了大癩痢和吊鐘洲等兩處潛水地點。
On the 16th December Living Seas Hong Kong conducted an underwater clean-up in Sai Kung, we visited two dives sites at Trio Island and Jin Island.

 

這次潛水活動的主要目的，是對有關地點進行勘察，清理發現的垃圾，以及進一步改善我們的海底清理技巧。在這次潛水活動中，我們發現了被廢棄的魚網、魚勾、魚絲以及其他各種垃圾，包括空罐及玻璃瓶等等。
The primary aim of the dives was to survey the two sites, clear them of debris that we found and lastly we wanted to refine our underwater clean-up processes. On the dives we found discarded nets, fishing hooks and lines and a variety of debris such as cans and bottles.

 

通過這次活動，我們吸取了一些寶貴經驗，包括：
Valuable lessons were learnt, such as:

 

1. 有需要配備盛載廢棄魚勾的容器
   the need to bring a container to place discarded fishing hooks;
2. 掌握良好漂浮技術的重要性
   the importance of good buoyancy skills,
3. 需要配備性能良好的剪刀去小心清除海底的魚絲和魚網
   the need for good scissors for careful removal of lines and nets,
4. 有必要進一步思考如何舉辦大型活動
   further refinement of our thinking on organising bigger events
5. 考慮爭取更多支援及參與的方法
   Ideas of garnering support and participation.

 

舉辦海底清潔活動必項小心謹慎。我們會不斷累積經驗，使這些活動越辦越成功。我們將會在2013年舉辦更多這類活動
Organising and conducting underwater clean-ups requires due care and attention, we continue to learn about how to make these more and more successful. More clean-up will be planned in 2013.

 

海面上漂浮的垃圾固然令人不快，而海底堆積的垃圾則會破壞我們的海洋環境。
The debris above water is primarily an eyesore, the debris underwater continues to devastate our marine life.
