However, this is not the end. There is still a long way to go, the announcement lacks detail and there is lots of work ahead to realise policies that will protect our seas, our marine life as well as ensure the future livelihood of Hong Kong’s long beleaguered fishermen. To put this into context, two years ago Donald Tsang announced a ban on commercial fishing in marine parks. This has not yet been implemented.
Living Seas Hong Kong will be commenting officially on this announcement, we want to urge the government to urgently implement the proposed measures as soon as possible.
