Living Seas Hong Kong is very sad to find news of the discovery of a floating body of a dead whale shark in Hong Kong.
A report today in the Apple Daily tells the tragic news of the discovery of the floating body of the Whale Shark that was captured in Hong Kong waters and subsequently released on the 6th June.
Although the cause of death is not know, an expert indicated that the death was probably due to :

Exhaustion after a long struggle in the fishermens net.

Abrasions and cuts from the nets.

Lowering of salinity due to the recent heavy downpours, left the animal struggling to recover.
Experts have proposed that fishermen should release catches of this kind as soon as possible and that legislation is introduced to protect endangered species of this kind.
